Through artist-led research and participatory events, this new commission will develop a programme of enquiry to understand the ecological character of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus (TQEC). With a focus on the waterfront, Wild Spaces will invite dialogue between students, local residents, visitors and wildlife to find new perspectives on Bristol’s relationship with water and explore themes of living well and sharing better futures.
The brief will invite temporary interventions within the soft landscaping of the new public realm of the TQEC. These could include: animating waterways with floating structures; creating environments for learning about habitats and areas of ecological interest; devising information trails; planting schemes and exhibitions.
The University’s commitment to sustainable futures is the backdrop to this commission, which aims to engage communities in addressing some of the biggest challenges of our time. For more information about this future commission see the TQEC Public Art Strategy (PDF, 2MB).
